Dance & Nature Connection.

Dance is a great way to connect with nature. Ever felt lonely, different or disconnected from humanity? We all get these feelings from time to time. But when these feelings are prolonged, there's a message in there from you.

As a shy, sensitive type I've often felt a dismay at the the things that go on in our world. I take solace in my own company, the company of a few, and the company of nature and the beings that exist there. I feel more at home in the country away from the crowds. My relationship began with simply enjoying the peace and serenity. But actually, I instinctively felt the wisdom and love around me and that was at first how it presented itself.

I read books about nature connection over time and began to draw this wisdom into my country walks. (I shall include some simple ways to connect with the beings of nature at the bottom of this blog.) Later I met Rachel Corby of Wild Gaian Soul. (Her details are listed at the bottom.) She is an amazing teacher of plant whispering. Do you know how easy it actually is to speak with plants? For the more analytical minds it can be more complicated, but for the sensitive its very easy to do. Consider them as our older, wiser relatives. They are waiting for us. To share their love, their wisdom and support. And if you approach with sincere and open heart, they will always be there. The same cannot be said for a human beings.

During my time in London, I'd go to the park in Covent Garden on my lunchbreaks and talk with the trees. I didn't know if it was real or not. But I'd gently focus on them. Sit with them and enojy their peace. Listen to them. One day I'd had an upsetting interaction and went to the park. A Hawthorn tree called to me. I went to sit by the trunk. I felt so much warmth from her. (She instinctively felt feminine) I cried a lot in that moment. Then felt better. That was one of my first interactions.

Much later during my time in London, I experienced a spiritual emergency. A rapid spiritual awakening which can be very ungrounding and can often last years. One day, I was really struggling. I saw a poster of some rock climbers and knew in that moment I needed to be out of the city. I took myself off to Dartmoor and spent the days walking alone. There were times when it was incredibly windy and I'd find myself laughing struggling against the wind on the open moors. I looked and saw the elementals smiling back at me, swirling around in the sky. I was completely sober, I promise.

Later in life, when I remembered I was Pagan I began to connect with them in more ceremonial ways. If you feel alone, if you feel disconnected and have done for a long time I highly recommend connecting with them. Go out into nature. Take simple walks. But listen, let your mind be quiet as you walk. Bring a gift. It's ALWAYS good to bring some kind of offering. Some tabacco, herbs, dried flower petals. Never bring seeds though or anything inorganic obviously! The point is to offer compost with love and grattitude. A dance or a song is good if you have nothing physically. Speak to them. In your mind or out loud, whatever you prefer! Take time to be with them. Be still with them.

Dance is a fantastic offering of gratitude and way of building connection to the beings of nature. Ensure you're grounded. Take a few deep breaths, send your roots down into the Earth Mother and set your intention. To dance love, gratitude, to build respectful connection with all the beings of nature. You could speak your intention first either out loud or silently to yourself. And then allow your dance to unfold. Play gentle music quietly or listen to headphones. Always be respectful. You can also ask if it's appropriate to play music if you're unsure.

You can dance this way with the Elemental beings too. Every Element is in our body. The Earth our substance, the Air we breathe, our warmth as Fire and the Water as the fluid. Speak to them, offer them your love and gratitude and feel them through your body and all around you as you dance with the intention of love, respect, connection.

Earth Elementals: Gnomes

Air Elementals: Sylphs

Water Elementals: Undines

Fire Elementals: Salamanders

Gnomes tend to be the easiest to connect with. The Salamanders take more time.

We are living in a time where connection with these wise, kind beings could be immensely helpful for us as a species. And further, for ALL beings onh this planet. This is the disconnection that we feel. We are never alone. Come with a respectful, open heart and they'll be waiting for you.
